The program
What does Velmar Cut do?
Velmar Cut plans how to cut parts from stock with as little waste as possible: bars, pipes and profiles in 1D, sheets, plates and panels in 2D. It also keeps a warehouse of stock and remnants, prints cutting schedules and labels, and exports DXF, DWG, SVG and Excel files.
Which edition do I need?
Choose Velmar Cut 1D for bars, pipes and profiles, and Velmar Cut 2D for sheets, plates and panels, including nesting for laser, plasma or waterjet. The full Velmar Cut covers both. The trial unlocks every edition, so you can test your own jobs before you decide.
Is the plan the best possible layout?
The plan is the best layout Velmar Cut finds within the level's time, not a proven optimum. A higher level or a longer time limit gives Velmar Cut more time for a tighter layout. Every plan respects kerf, trims, margins, grain and the stock you entered. To judge the result, run a job you have already cut and compare the material used.
Does it need an internet connection or an account?
No. Velmar Cut runs and activates offline, and there is no account to create. Your jobs, drawings and warehouse stay on your own computer.
Which languages is the program available in?
Velmar Cut has 27 interface languages, and reports and labels follow the language you choose. Lengths can be entered in millimetres or inches, with a decimal comma or a decimal point.
Licences and buying
How does the trial work?
The 7-day trial starts the first time you run Velmar Cut and unlocks every edition. You need no account or card. We send the download link to the e-mail address you enter on the download page. When the trial ends, enter a licence and continue with the same jobs.
How do I activate a licence?
You activate it in the program, without an internet connection. After payment you receive the licence by e-mail, as text and as a .vel file. In Velmar Cut, choose Enter your licence, paste the text from the BEGIN line to the END line or open the file, and click Activate.
What happens when a term licence ends?
When all your licences have ended, Velmar Cut stops as it does after the trial, until you enter a new licence. Your files stay on your computer. Before a term ends, the program reminds you: a week before for a monthly licence, from a month before for a yearly one, and from three months before for a three-year one.
How do renewals and upgrades work?
A renewal starts when your current licence of that edition ends, so you never lose paid days. To add another edition, you buy a licence for it. Licences add up, and the program unlocks what they include together. In My licences you can renew or add an edition with your details already filled in.
On how many computers can I use a licence?
On any number of computers. A licence is not tied to a machine, so you enter the same licence at the saw, in the office and on a laptop, and again on a new computer when you replace one.
I lost my licence. Can I get it again?
Yes. Sign in to My licences with your account. If you have no account yet, create one with the e-mail address the licence was issued to. There you can download every licence again.
Do you charge VAT, and do I get an invoice?
Prices exclude VAT, Stripe adds the VAT for your country at checkout, and you receive a receipt for every payment. EU businesses outside Croatia with a valid VAT number pay no VAT (reverse charge), and customers in Croatia pay Croatian VAT. If you need an invoice with other details, write to contact@
Files and technical details
Which files can I import?
Parts and stock come from Excel (XLS, XLSX, XLSB), CSV, TSV, XML or the clipboard, with the columns in any order. In 2D you can also import parts and sheets from DXF, DWG (R14 to AC1032) and SVG. You do not need Microsoft Office or AutoCAD.
Does Velmar Cut produce G-code?
No. Velmar Cut exports the nested sheets as DXF, DWG or SVG, with outer and inner contours; arcs stay arcs. Kerf compensation, lead-ins and cut order are set in your CAM or machine software.
Which Windows versions are supported? Mac or Linux?
Velmar Cut runs on Windows 10 and 11, 64-bit. It is self-contained, so you do not need to install .NET, AutoCAD or Office. Versions for Linux and macOS are coming soon. If you need one sooner, write to contact@
Where is my data stored?
By default in your user profile, in %LOCALAPPDATA%\VelmarCut. The portable version keeps its data in the VelmarCutData folder next to the program, and you can also choose another folder. Jobs are saved automatically every 15 seconds and on close, each save keeps a backup copy, and history snapshots let you restore earlier states.
Do I need a CAD program?
Not always. 1D jobs take lengths and angles, so they need no drawing. For 2D the drawing is all inside Velmar Cut: with Velmar Cut 2D or the full Velmar Cut you can draw parts and sheets in the shape editor, from scratch or from templates such as a flange or L-bracket, so some small workshops might not need CAD. A drawn part is nested with the job, and its shape exports as DXF, DWG or SVG. Shops that design in 3D keep their CAD, and Velmar Cut imports DXF, DWG and SVG from it or from their customers. Velmar Cut does not produce G-code, so your CAM or machine software stays.
