Velmar Cut 1.6
Velmar Cut 1.6 keeps a whole order in one project, lets an AI assistant on your PC work in the program and brings smaller changes for bars and sheets.
Projects for whole orders
Every 1D and 2D job of an order goes into one project file, to be planned, printed and booked out together. Every job and project takes its stock from the one warehouse they all share.
AI assistants in Velmar Cut
Through its MCP server, AI apps on your PC such as Claude, the ChatGPT desktop app and Cursor enter parts and stock, run the optimisation and read the plan. The window shows every change as it happens.
Automatic stock for bars
When parts have no stock of their profile, Optimize offers to add bars of one standard length, 6 m unless you type another. Add bars and optimize adds as many as the plan uses, and Ctrl+Z removes them.
Print the bar plan alone
Print ▾ Overview only prints the cutting plan with its angles, without the enlarged small parts.
Remnants filled at Balanced
At the Balanced level, irregular remnants of one kind of part are now filled as fully as at Best. In our test of 150 strips over four irregular remnants, every run places 136 on them.
Tighter rectangles at Best
At Best, rectangular parts now pack tighter. In our tests a job of 210 pieces takes the material of 3.20 sheets, and a hole-over-hole job fits on 2 sheets.
Velmar Cut 1.5
Velmar Cut 1.5 plans remnants first, sheet by sheet, and adds hole over hole nesting, GPU acceleration with an NVIDIA graphics card and more tools for nesting sheets and plates.
Remnants first, sheet by sheet
Balanced, Best and Maximum plan the stock remnants first, sheet by sheet, and new sheets only take what the remnants cannot hold. Leftovers from earlier jobs are used up before new stock is cut.
Hole over hole nesting
Parts with an opening can go over the holes in a sheet, so skeletons and remnants become usable again. In our tests this saved one sheet in each of two jobs.
Four levels
Fast (up to 1 min) suits quotes and quick checks; Balanced (up to 5 min, the default), Best (10 min) and Maximum (30 min) plan remnants first, sheet by sheet. A higher level takes more time for a tighter plan.
Run until I stop, then choose
With Run until I stop on, planning goes on until you press Stop, and Stop keeps the best plan so far. Then take the Recommended plan or the one with the fewest sheets, the biggest remnant, the fewest layouts or the shortest cut.
Free rotation
Parts may turn to any angle, per job or per part. In our tests a job of 300 L-brackets went from 5 sheets to 4; parts drawn square gain nothing from it.
Fewer different sheet layouts
Layouts offers Best efficiency, Balanced repeats and Prefer repeats. Repeats cut the same layout on several sheets, for fewer machine programs and setups; in our tests one job went from 6 layouts to 2 with the same material.
Overview, 3D and plan pictures
See every sheet of the plan side by side, or a layout in 3D with the sheet transparent or as the skeleton left after cutting. Save the plan as PNG pictures, and export cutting length and pierces per part and per sheet as CSV for quotes.
Holes in the shape editor
The shape editor rounds or chamfers the corners of holes as well as a part's outer corners. An imported hole that is exactly a circle, a rectangle or a slot can be resized.
Simple and Advanced settings
Cutting settings open on a Simple tab with the level, the goal, shared cuts, the cutting method and the hole options; the Advanced tab holds the tuning. Restore defaults returns to Balanced with no tuning and keeps the kerf, spacing, remnant sizes, margins and cutting method.
Repack this sheet
Right-click a sheet of the plan to repack it for more shared cuts, a bigger leftover or more of the pieces not yet placed. The other sheets stay as they are, and sheets cut alike change together.
