Velmar Cut 1D

Cutting plans for bars, pipes and profiles

Enter each part with its length and end angles, choose the stock and press Optimize. Velmar Cut lays out the bars, lets matching mitres share one cut, allows for the kerf at the cut angle and keeps the remnants worth reusing.

What the 1D optimisation takes into account

Angled and mitred ends

Each part has an internal left and right angle between 0 and 180°, where 90° is a square cut. Choose Same (parallel) or Opposite (mirrored) and the right-hand angle is converted to match. The Shape column draws the part.

Kerf at the cut angle

The kerf is the blade thickness. On an angled cut it takes up more length along the bar, and Velmar Cut allows for that. Matching ends share one cut; ends that do not match get separate cuts and the extra gap.

End-for-end rotation and flipping

Turning a part end for end, or flipping it face over, can save material. You allow each one in the cutting settings and per part. Switch flipping off for asymmetric sections and finished faces.

Stock lengths and priorities

Limited or unlimited stock, several bar lengths, priorities and end trims. Parts are kept apart by material and profile height, and remnants in stock are used first.

Reusable remnants

Set the minimum reusable length. Anything longer is kept as a remnant, and an angled end is cut square before the remnant goes back into stock.

Objective and level

Optimise for least waste, lowest cost or fewest bars. Choose Fast, Balanced, Best or Maximum (for bars each finishes in seconds), limit the pieces per bar and set rules for the remainder.

Stock length comparison

Before you order material, compare a range of bar lengths and see which ones waste the least on this job.

Import from Excel and CSV

Paste rows from Excel or import XLS, XLSX, XLSB, CSV, TSV or XML. Columns can be in any order, decimals take a comma or a point, and fractions such as 100 1/2 work too.

Jobs up to 50,000 pieces

Planning runs in the background with a progress display and a Cancel button, while you keep working in the program.

Automatic stock

When parts have no stock of their profile, Optimize offers to add bars of one standard length, 6 m unless you type another. Add bars and optimize adds as many as the plan uses, and Ctrl+Z removes them.

Print the plan alone

Print / preview ▾ Overview only prints the cutting plan with its angles, without the enlarged small parts.

What a 1D plan shows

Every layout is drawn to scale along its length, with the parts, their codes and end angles, each saw cut, the kerf and the remainder, which is shaded when it is reusable. Identical bars are grouped with a repeat count, so the operator cuts one pattern several times instead of reading down a long list.

  • Bar diagrams with lengths, end angles and part codes
  • Identical patterns grouped with a repeat count
  • Remnants marked and booked into the warehouse
  • Cut positions given as blade centre lines, measured from the start of the bar
  • The Cut sequence tab lists every cut in order, with its position, angle and operation

Measuring conventions

  • Part length runs end to end; angles are internal, bottom left and bottom right.
  • Trim allowances include the kerf, and cut coordinates are blade centre lines.
  • Line angles are measured from the bar axis; many saw dials call a square cut 0°.
  • CSV and DXF exports contain geometry, not machine-specific G-code.

Printed schedules and export files

An A4 landscape cutting schedule, a scale drawing of every finished part with its angles, labels with the part outline, and CSV, Excel or DXF files for your other software.
